Leaders Meet Challenge Heads-UP With Confidence –

May 31, 2010

Maybe “buck” is better referred to as the Boss’ Challenge. Business owners are faced with making lots of decisions - some quickly made - others take more time with greater consequences.

Time Vs Wages –

A few years ago (maybe 30!) a top secretarial job paid $75. a week or less. You can compare it to the $700 weekly paycheck today. Has about the same buying power. Inflation is real. Salaries increase every year mainly to stay even with inflation, sometimes with less buying power.

Obviously, we refuse to talk about taxes (April 15th) or capital gains (that’s where nothing happens except the Government gets 20%) and then death taxes arrive when you have nothing to say about it. Up to 55% of the farm. Yes, a big Wow!

Death and taxes are for real. Best decision is to stay on the "right" track. God has a special plan for you and your future. Government has your best interest at heart, too. It’s always important to keep your house in order. Never know! You could wake UP dead! If not, tax report filing is soon due.

Volunteering for a Networking Group

May 30, 2010

When is it appropriate to volunteer to take a position in the group?

Have you heard the saying that “the fastest way to get anything done is to ask a busy person”? It is very true. What it actually boils down to is the fact that busy people are often very well organized and have the ability to delegate some of their tasks. A busy person can usually fit more into their schedule than most people. For example, I am working a full time job which takes at least 55 hours a week, plus I am completing studies for a doctoral degree. That seems like a busy person but that is not all I have on my plate: I also own a company that provides sales process consulting, I volunteer as the Historian for my Rotary District, I make time to exercise twice daily, I tend to my family and write books. On top of all this I still have time to volunteer for committee work at the Chamber of Commerce and spend time with my family. How do I accomplish so much? I organize my day and my week ahead of time and slot everything into its place.

Network Marketing Is Definitely A Relationship Business

May 29, 2010

Heavily branded websites like amazon.com are household names and carry an implied trust with visitors. However, the vast majority of websites are not well known and are found and visited as a result of search engine searches. In these instances, the visitor is probably arriving at the website for the first time and human nature often dictates fear or suspicion of the unknown.

If someone is shopping around for the best price for a particular item, say a Cuisinart food processor, they would probably go to a site such as Ask Jeeves (at ask.com using the Smart Search for Products feature) and quickly obtain a list of sources and prices for the desired item. The “yes/no” purchase decision has already been made and it is simply a question of who to buy it from.

In the case of network marketing, it is of critical importance to build a sense of trust with your team members. Network marketing is very definitely a relationship business and each relationship typically starts out with two complete strangers sitting at their respective keyboards.

How To Keep The Fog Of Failure Out Of Your Internet Business

How To Keep The Fog Of Failure Out Of Your Internet Business
 by: Christine Darrington

Failure begins with a constant cycle of reading, learning, and soaking in more and more information. It can be overwhelming. Many people fall into this sort of Internet fog. It’s a very frustrating place to be. You can’t see where you’re going, your lost, confused and not making any headway.

How do we navigate through this fog?

The worst offender of Internet fog is our email box. We surf the Internet looking for solutions. We find newsletters and ezines that promise answers, yet what we mostly seem to derive from our email newsletters is a way to drain time out of our lives.

The truth is, there is a lot of trash on the Internet. An abundance of ideas are quickly, and sometimes recklessly developed into reports and ebooks and sold as the newest and best way to build your business, create traffic, and make money.

I personally know of one man who wrote just such an ebook. It sold to a lot of people who really believed that he had earned hundreds of thousands of dollars following his own advice.

TIME, The Undervalued Resource

May 28, 2010

We are all born equal! We all have the same 24 hours in a day as Oprah Winfrey has the difference is how we choose to spend our time. No matter how you dissect this concept, there could only be 1440 minutes or 86,400 seconds at any given 24.

We’ve all been there and continue to get caught up in last minute rushes to meet deadlines, meetings that are double booked or achieve absolutely nothing, days that seem unproductive and crisis that spring unexpectedly from nowhere and destroy the most carefully planned day.

Somewhere in our education program, we all learned about the mathematical term “transition property” where if:

A=B and B=C, then A=C

Let’s try to apply this formula to what we’ve read so far.

?Time Management (A) = Planning & Prioritization (B)

?Planning & Prioritization (B) = Productivity & Success (C)

Therefore…

? Time Management (A) = Productivity & Success (C)

Einstein, The Universe, And Leadership

May 27, 2010

Every since serving a hitch in the military, I have been nagged by the question that’s been hanging around leadership since time immemorial: How can some leaders persuade people to believe in them and follow them and other leaders can’t? But it wasn’t the military that provided me with a framework to answer that question. It was Albert Einstein and his quest for the unified field theory of the universe.

Einstein is well known for his special and general theories of relativity, two of the crowning intellectual achievements of the 20th century. But what he is not so well known for is a magnificent quest that he carried on for some 30 years - and ultimately failed in. That was his quest for a unified field theory of the universe, a theory that explains all the forces of the universe. And it was a quest that inspired me, in my small way, to find an answer to the leadership question.

Einstein’s special theory combined space and time into a single concept known as the space-time continuum. He spent the rest of his life failing to develop a unified field theory that incorporated gravity into the electromagnetic field. But it wasn’t his trying to solve the conundrums of physics that inspired me. It was his trying to unify the grand forces of the universe that’s so compelling.

Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid When Joining a Professional Association

May 26, 2010

I’ll be the first to admit that I went a little nuts when I moved I moved recently in terms of going all-out to participate in a variety of professional associations. I had some experience with most of the groups that I visited in other places I had lived, or had clients who had positive experiences with certain groups. I was so eager to become involved again in professional associations that instead of really paying attention to a group as it exists locally, I made decisions to join groups based on my past experiences and experiences of clients.

After a few months (and about $1500 in dues paid), I realized I had made a grave mistake. I knew I had failed to keep in mind a few essential thoughts as I evaluated the appropriateness of renewing membership dues to various groups as a way to build my business. Here’s what I’ve learned:

1. Determine your professional association dues budget for the year before joining anything. I foolishly just kept paying membership dues, without giving consideration as to the total picture of what I’d spent in dues for the year. Set your spending limits and stick to those and in a year evaluate if it’s worth your time and money to continue participating in the group.

How To Create Urgency So People Buy Now

May 25, 2010

..products or services now. They may not revisit your web site or see your ad again.

How do you do this? You must use a limited time offer. Limited time offers stop people from putting off buying your products or services. It stops them from procrastinating.

There are many different types of limited time offers. Here are a few.

Limited Time Price Offers For example, Order Now! While the price is still low. After Dec 23,1999 this price will go up to…

Limited Time Discount Offers For example, Order before Midnight, Nov. 5,1999 and you will get 25% discount!

Limited Time Free Bonus Offers For example, Order before April 2, 2000 and you’ll get a free bonus!

Limited Time In Stock Offers For example, Order Now! While supplies last! After Oct. 31,1999 we can’t guarantee we will have any left in stock.

I’m not saying everyone will order the first time they see your ad. They may not be interested in your products or services. It depends on your ad and the person reading the ad. If they are interested, usually, limited time offers will make them buy now.

Formal Business Attire is Making a Comeback

May 24, 2010

The dot com boom of 1990s brought with it a laissez-faire attitude to dress code. Business casual was not a word that was part of our daily vocabulary.

Business casual may have been good for the dot comers, but the casual attire tried to find its way into other industries as well. Human resource departments all over the country were forced to reconsider their dress codes, many of them having to finally put theirs in writing.

Dress codes vary from industry to industry, and the company ultimately has the discretion in what their employees are required to wear. Some companies made it clear through employee manuals what was to be considered acceptable attire.

Now that the dot com era has settled a little, we are noticing that the trend is heading back to where it once was. Big business has gone back to a more formal dress code, realizing that they only have one opportunity to impress their clients.

Men’s business attire traditionally consists of a suit and tie, closed-toed dress shoes, and no flashy jewelry, with the exception of a timepiece. Men are to be neatly groomed with a conservative hairstyle and shiny shoes.

3 Marketing Myths that are Stopping you Succeed!

3 Marketing Myths that are Stopping you Succeed!
by: Lee Lister - The Biz Guru

These 3 marketing myths can cause you to lose sales if you base your marketing decisions on them. We’ve given you some marketing tips to blast each myth and boost your sales.

Myth 1: People buy a product at the cheapest price they can find.

That is not true - if it was then companies like Rolex and would not exist - Timex would have put them out of business a long time ago. Despite the ease of research that the internet affords - buyers are generally lazy and don’t undertake full research. Even on eBay where it is far easier to check the relative prices of a product - people often buy a product at a higher price than they could. So what causes people to buy? These are called buying triggers - the most common are:

• Confidence in the seller

• A high perceived value

• Recommendations

• Ease of purchase

Blasting Myth 1:

Establish your credentials - for example we have over 20 years of business consultancy experience - so we know what works and what does not work in a business.
